Are you in control?

Having reliable control of your audio/video system is a key component to maximizing your enjoyment.  It is very frustrating when your remote control fails to properly command your equipment and whether you’re trying to watch a movie, listen to music or simply control the house lights you can be left feeling helpless.  Like all complex systems, remote controls need to be maintained and occasionally serviced to ensure they are in good working order and able to operate your system.

At LMC we are constantly training our technicians and installers with the latest procedures and industry standards to keep us on the forefront of this technology.  We always strive to deliver systems which are easy-to-use and intuitive.  Over the past couple of months we have seen some great advances in remote technology and the future continues to look very bright for new and innovative products.

Welcome Savant!
Savant is based in Osterville, Massachusetts and has developed a full line-up of audio and video control systems.

“Savant luxury home theater and home automation solutions are engineered to simplify life — not complicate it.

Featuring the industry’s only Apple®-based control and automation solution, Savant unifies all of your whole house audio and video, lighting control systems, security, climate, communications, internet and ancillary services into one easy-to-use, seamless experience.”

Savant has taken the system and home automation world by storm providing a very different approach to programming and maintenance of systems.  While the basic concepts behind their hardware remains straightforward, their partnership with Apple ensures that they have a very stable and reliable platform to base their products on.  This relationship has already proven successful by many other dealers around the country and, so far, LMC’s installs have reflected this as well.

One of the key benefits of the Savant system is the use of established control devices such as the iPod, iPhone and the new iPad.

This changes everything….introducing the iPad
In case you’ve been travelling outside our solar system, Apple introduced the new iPad at the beginning of April.  There has been so much talk about this device it’s become nauseating and there is definitely no shortage of opinions.  We have found it to be quite fun and very easy to use.  The size and form factor makes it easy to read while still very portable.  Savants new ROSIE control software for the iPad is exceptional; whether it’s a single room or a whole house system the larger screen makes control a breeze.  We fully expect this to become a major factor for all home automation systems of the future.  Savant recently introduced two new accessories for the iPod, an in-wall dock and a table stand; both make the tablet accessible depending on install preference.

More options
Savant has many options when it comes to system control.  They have a basic single room control system, simple in-home audio distribution system and, of course, their flagship system which is completely configurable for whatever your audio and video needs are.  There is really no general price point for any of these systems as costs will vary on both hardware and programming time depending on the types of systems it is interacting with.

If you would like some more information on Savant please don’t hesitate to contact us or stop by either showroom for a demo.

Manufacturer Introduction: Kimber Kable

LMC Home Entertainment is excited to announce the addition of Kimber Kable to our product line.  Kimber is manufactured in Odgen, Utah and they offer a variety of interconnects, digital and speakers cables to fit every budget.

Established in 1979, Kimber Kable is the brainchild of inventor, engineer and entrepreneur Ray Kimber. Ray's fondness for new discovery and experimentation actually began in the first grade when he built a crystal receiver, which he tweaked, without help or knowledge, by adding to it a set of army surplus headphones.

Kimber offers many different price points starting at the entry level and going all the way up to their flagship Select series.  They offer several termination  options for speaker cables and all cables can be ordered to custom lengths.
Kimber Kable products  carry a lifetime warranty.

New McIntosh Product

The new MEN220 Room Correction System by McIntosh delivers a potent suite of Room Correction, Custom-EQ and 2-Way Crossover capabilities in one easy-to-use stereo component. While any single feature of the MEN220 has the power to optimize the sonic characteristics of the highest quality audio systems, combining the features can reveal a level clarity and resolution unattainable by any other means.

Styled in the rich tradition of McIntosh audio components the MEN220 features our trademark Fiber-Optic Illuminated Black Glass Frontpanel and aluminum casework. Frontpanel buttons and control knobs bring a familiar, easy-to-use analog interface to this digital product just as a 2-line vacuum fluorescent display reports status and aids in set-up of the MEN220. Full system control and PC link are provided via RS232 while McIntosh Data, Power Control and IR inputs offer additional remote control flexibility. Both single-ended and balanced connections are supported; a hand-held, IR remote control is included.

The McIntosh MEN220 costs $4,500.
